Lessons for My Children

  1. Never compete, compare or prejudge anyone. The only person you ever need to compete with is yourself, to do your personal best.
  2. Learn to be responsive vs reactive. Think about your action and how it will affect you and those around you. Remember anger is one letter short of danger.
  3. SAVE
  4. Seek to understand. No matter what someone says to you, try to understand what they are really trying to say or what it is really about. You will usually find it has nothing to do with you, but they are in need of something lacking in them or their life. Then practise lesson #2
  5. A true person’s character isn’t determined by how they win a game but is defined on how they lose a game. Even in the game of life.
  6. TRAVEL
  7. You measure one’s success, not by their wishbone but rather their backbone. Discipline is the ingredient to success and miracles happening
  8. People don’t care or remember what you do or what you know, but they will always remember how you made them feel.
  9. READ (readers are leaders)
  10. SMILE lots, look people in the eye, and use their name. #1-word people love to hear is their name.
  11. If it’s meant to be it is up to me. So be the leader of your life and make things happen. Don’t wait for anyone or anything. “you can do it”
  12. SAVE
  13. 3 kinds of people in life. People who make things happen. People who watch things happen and the people who wonder what the hell happen.
  14. The best education you can get is the places you go, the people you meet and the books you read. “so just do it” Plan, Prepare & Prioritise and you can do anything.
  15. TRAVEL
  16. Always do more than expected and always leave a place better than you got it.
  17. When it comes to work ethic, show up, step up and stand out.
  18. READ
  19. The best therapy in life is mother nature. Beach Therapy, Rainforest Therapy and Campfire Therapy.
  20. Be POSITIVE! Control your thoughts and your control your life. Your ATTITUDE will determine your altitude.
  21. SAVE
  22. Remember, Great minds will talk about idea’s, average minds will talk about events and small minds will talk about other people. So careful who you spend your time with. The old saying “show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are.” People will come and go in your life and that is ok, some will be for a reason or a season and some will leave footprints in your heart.
  23. Siblings are forever as friends will come and go. So help one another, be there for each other and again, seek to understand what they need from you. Ask, “ How can I help you today”
  24. As you look after your health and eat well, drink lots of water and exercise, look after your mind and READ.
  25. So live the life you imagined. Do what you love and love what you do. “Go for greatness” and say YES to your potential.
